This week in Loano, Northern Italy the GB Down Syndrome Swimming team is taking part in the European Championships, and Container Team are the proud sponsors of our team.

The “Elio Garassini” sports facility will welcome the best swimmers with Down syndrome from 7 to 12 November for third edition of the Open European Championships which has been organised by  DSISO – Down Syndrome International Swimming Organisation – the global federation responsible for the development and management of the discipline of swimming for athletes with Down syndrome.

The event is being attended by over 200 athletes and staff, representing 20 countries including Australia, Brazil, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Great Britain, Iceland, Ireland, Serbia, Mexico, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden , South Africa, Turkey, Venezuela and Italy. The event welcomes the participation of non-European countries in the competition.

The championship represent a cultural to promote and spread the ideals of a sport that allows people with disabilities to become athletes. The sports element helps athletes to exceed their limits in an attempt to win medals and records, as well as being representatives of their country and being part of a team.

As well as being sponsors of the GB Team Container Team has our own representative in the pool, as Alex Edwards (daughter of the company directors Tim and Hazel) is competing for the first time. She has made wonderful progress over the year and is being fully backed by all the staff. We wish Alex and all the the team of best of luck, and hope they have a fantastic experience .
